After winning the Provincial Cup…the DCS Boys U16 team took a much needed one week off and returned to training to prepare for the Nottingham Cup in England.
The boys represented DCS and the country well on and off the pitch. Playing in new red and white kits…the team was able to win their first 3 games. They played the host team from Nottingham won 3-0, then played a team from Uganda won 5-1 and then played a team from Isle of Man won 1-0. They then played the Isle of Man team in the final, a 0-0 tie had them going straight into Penalty Kicks which unfortunately did not fall their way. A great result and a good showing of measurement that the players know they can compete with players from other countries overseas.
The tour was fantastic ! Wembley and Chelsea Stamford Bridge Stadium tour, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abby,Big Ben and Parliament Buildings, Thames River Cruise, Trafalgar and Leicester Square, Convent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, Nottingham Castle, St George’s Park which is the FA National team’s training facilities and a match between Swansea vs Wolverhampton.
Other sights and activities was had but also got a friendly in with a same age local soccer club from London. They heard this team from “Canada” was in town and so wanted to play them. Played the game at the team’s hotel which had a soccer field on the team’s final night of the trip…won that game 6-2.
Thank you so much to the entire DCS Family for their support and assistance in making this a trip of a lifetime!
